Quilted Koala Joyful Collection Duffel Bag Review and $75 Shopping Spree Giveaway + Discount Code

I received a bag from Quilted Koala in exchange for this review. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

A few weeks ago, we were getting ready for our trip to NYC for my cousin's wedding, when this beautiful Quilted Koala large blue & red Crest duffel bag, from their Joyful collection, showed up at my door.

Fate? I think so!

It was pretty much love at first sight from the moment I opened up the box.

I knew that it would be my travel bag and carryon on the airplane. I excitedly packed my new Quilted Koala bag, and I was totally impressed with how much stuff fit into it!! My husband was even able to sneak a few of his things into my bag, and I didn't even give him a hard time about it :)

The large duffel has roomy pockets to easily access important stuff. It's very well-made and sturdy, while also being super soft and easy to travel with. It fit in the over head compartment on the airplane very easily, and looked cute at the same time! Win, win, win.

Quilted Koala also makes other adorable accessories like: pouches, jewelry rolls, and tote bags. I love how they make it possible to totally coordinate everything!

I need to plan another trip very soon just so that I can pack this baby full again! This bag was truly the perfect travel companion (shhh, don't tell my husband!)

Sweet & Spooky Flannel Receiving Blankets - Review + Giveaway

My boys have a slight infatuation with blankets - or "Abby's" as they call them (Little J started saying Abby instead of blanket when he was a baby and Baby L just caught on and says the same thing).

They each have their own special Abby, but in my honest mom opinion, you can never have too many blankets! They can be used for everything (swaddling, as a burp cloth, to keep warm, lay down as a changing mat, just to name a few ideas!) and you always need to have blankets on hand. Which is why I like to have cute, fun, bright blankets that go beyond boring basic colors.

Sweet & Spooky is mom-owned and she hand crafts adorable flannel receiving blankets that are available in eye-pleasing colors and patterns. When I opened the box containing the 4-pack of blankets we received and saw the prints and colors a huge smile appeared on my face.

They were seriously perfect for my boys (and me, too!) The sweet faces of the robots and the funky little green aliens stole my heart, and I knew they would became a fast favorite of the boys. The black-and-white chevron blanket and teal blue blanket were the perfect compliments to the set.

These are NOT your basic duck blankets from the hospital. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the ducks, they're cute...but these Sweet & Spooky blankets are just soooo adorable....and so soft! Oh, and your BFF isn't likely to have the same exact blanket, which I also like.

The Sweet & Spooky blankets are really big, which is awesome! We used ours to swaddle our stuffed animals, and to lay out on the floor when we were having a lazy afternoon playing with some new VTech Toys

Sweet & Spooky offers other coordinating children's products, too, which you can find in the Sweet & Spooky Etsy shop. These blankets would make a perfect gift for anyone with a kid! We definitely love Sweet & Spooky blankets and will be adding more patterns to our Abby collection! :)

VTech Expert Panel & Milestones + Toy Review & Giveaway

The VTech products, information, and additional gift pack have been provided byVTech. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

Being a mom is such a rewarding experience. I mean, it's also tiring and has it's fair share of stress but overall, it's the best thing in the world! Watching my kids grow, learn, and meet developmental milestones has been extremely exciting and fun to watch.

Our boys are now 2.5 years old (Little J) and 15 months old (Baby L). Even though they're both boys and only 13.5 months apart, they're so different from each other and learn at their own pace. We try to help them have fun meeting milestones with engaging activities and educational products and toys.

VTech toys have been a staple in our home since the beginning. I even remember having my own VTech toys when I was a little girl. They are truly awesome products that have stood the test of time, in my opinion.

What is also appealing to me about VTech is that they work closely with a panel of children's learning experts. Insight from these experts are featured in an online Milestones resource that offers parents guidelines and recommendations to help them select toys based on the individual needs of children from birth to nine years old. One of the panel expertsDr. Lise Eliot, Early Childhood Mental Development Expert, responded to developmental/ Milestones questions from parents in this helpful and insightful Milestones video

We recently had a chance to try out some very exciting VTech toys that we (surprisingly!) didn't already have in our home. The boys were super excited to play with them and couldn't wait for me to get them out of the package.

The kids had a blast playing with the VTech Chomp & Count Dino (TM) which is for kids 12-36 months. To be honest, I had fun with him, too! :)

As you place the brightly colored play pieces into his mouth, he recognizes what he's "eating" and talks to the kids! He also knows shapes, colors, and more. Dino can even be pulled along by his string. So much fun!

Even though the Lil' Critters Play & Dream Musical Piano (TM) is designed for babies age 0-12 months, my kids still enjoyed the music and lights on it. I actually wish we would've had it for them when they were younger, but they'll still get a bunch of use out of it as a floor piano, instead of attached to a crib.

The VTech Roll & Surprise Animal Train (TM) is also adorable and the boys loved it! It's designed for kids 6-36 months, and helps children learn animals, animal sounds, and colors. My kids enjoyed turning the knobs and watching the little animals pop up in a "peek-a-boo" type of way. This great toy can also be pulled along on a string.

Baby L actually took the train, pulling the string along behind him and said "byeeeee" to me as he walked away with it!

To learn more about VTech please visit:

and keep up with VTech on Facebook and Twitter.

You can enter to win the same VTech prize pack that we received - for your child.

Also included in the prize pack will be a set of adorable blankets (that are photographed in the photos above under the toys) from Sweet & Spooky's shop. The winner can choose from the in stock 4 pack's of blankets.

Slow Cooker Meal - Creamy Broccoli Bacon Chicken Corn Chowder

I have been really trying to up my mom-game this past week. My goal was to have dinner ready for my family most nights, and not have to order in or go to a restaurant.

My inspiration came while I was reading back through some of my ancient blog posts, and came across one where I made 12 pounds of chicken in one night (don't judge my terrible photo!) while I had a 3 week old Baby L in a baby carrier.  Seriously, what was I thinking?! Shouldn't I have been sleeping or something? I had a 14 month old and a 3 week old. Jeez.

Anyway, back to upping my mom stats.... Basically, if I could cook back then, I better be makin' some awesome dinners now!

I was taking inventory of my fridge one day this week, to find out what food needed to be cooked before it had to be tossed. So, that's what I threw into this meal, and it turned out pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself. Not to mention, I get a Gold Star for being really resourceful with the food in our fridge.

The whole family enjoyed this dinner, and it will go down in history as "The Day Without Any Leftovers", which makes me one very happy mama!

Actually, I'm lying, the only leftovers that remained were sent over to my 91 year old Grandma, who exclaimed how delicious the food was...followed by some sort of sweet statement about how she "didn't know Melissa even knew how to cook". I'm going to ignore that since she was just at my home for Thanksgiving, where I cooked a huge feast from scratch...but I digress...

So, to make your family the happiest people ever, too, here's what you'll need:

- 6 Boneless skinless chicken breasts (I used thawed - they're covered in all of the stuff in the pic above, but I promise they're under there!)

- approximately 2 cups of broccoli

- 1 can of whole kernel corn

- 4 strips of bacon (cooked and crumbled)

- 4 medium potatoes (diced)

- 1 package of cream cheese

- 1 cup of milk (plus 2 more cups of milk later!)

- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

-2 cups of water

Throw all ingredients into your slow cooker (except for the extra milk, water, and shredded cheddar cheese). Let it cook on high for 2-3 hours depending on your heat settings.

I had mine on low for 1 hour, then on high for 2 hours. Why? Because I accidentally put it on low instead of high to begin with, then switched once I realized! Typical Melissa mistake :)

Check on the progress of your meal after that time. Then, stir the food to thoroughly mix. Use a fork to shred the chicken until completely shredded and mixed in with other ingredients.

The food will look like the picture above. This is where you'll add in the extra 2 cups of milk, 2 cups of water, and shredded cheddar cheese.

Mix it up and recover the slow cooker. Let it simmer for about 20 more minutes on high.

Enjoy over bread or in a bowl.

Served over mini bread bowls would be perfect for a party, and surely please your guests.

If you're just looking to please your belly, pour the chowder into a bowl and get to work!

FYI - I chose the mini bread bowls because I like carbs a little too much.
